Austin Langdon was born on December 30, 1982, in Easton, Maryland. He enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard on September 1, 2009, and graduated from Infantry Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, on January 14, 2010. SPC Langdon next completed Advanced Individual Training as an Aviation Combat Medic at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, from January to June 2010, followed by medical training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, International Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers. He served as a UH-60 Blackhawk Flight Medic with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 169th General Support Aviation Battalion of the Maryland Army National Guard, from September 2009 until his honorable discharge on August 31, 2017. During this time, Sgt Langdon deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a UH-60 Flight Medic from February 2012 to January 2013, and he was also activated in April and May 2015 during the Baltimore Riots.
