Terry Moore was born on May 27, 1912, in Vernon, Alabama. He played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1935 to 1942, winning the 1942 World Series with that team. Moore enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces at Albrook Field in the Panama Canal Zone on May 31, 1943, and was assigned to the 10th Statistical Control Unit at Howard Field, Panama Canal Zone, from May to July 1943. SSgt Moore then served with Headquarters Sixth Air Force at Albrook Field in the Panama Canal Zone from July 1943 until his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Air Forces on January 12, 1946. After leaving active duty he returned to his professional baseball career, and played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1946 to 1948, winning the World Series with that team in 1946. Moore then served as a coach with the Cardinals from 1949 to 1952, and from 1956 to 1958. He also managed the Philadelphia Phillies in 1954. He was an All-Star for four straight seasons, from 1939 to 1942, and is a member of the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame. Terry Moore died on March 29, 1995, and was buried at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Collinsville, Illinois.
