Bob Barker was born on December 12, 1923, in Darrington, Washington. He attended Drury College in Springfield, Missouri, from 1941 to 1943, and during this time he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve at Naval Aviation Cadet Selection Board Kansas City, Missouri, on November 24, 1942. Barker went on active duty to attend V-5 Aviation Cadet Training on November 3, 1943, and he attended Pre-Flight Training at Pre-Flight School Athens, Georgia, from November 1943 to January 1944. He then attended Primary Flight Training at NAS Memphis, Tennessee, from February to June 1944, followed by Advanced Flight Training at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, from June 1944 until he was designated a Naval Aviator and commissioned an Ensign on December 6, 1944. Ensign Barker attended VF Replacement Air Group Training at NAS DeLand, Florida, from January to April 1945, and then additional training at NAS Banana River, Florida, from April to June 1945. His next assignment was as an F4U-1D Corsair pilot with VBF-97 at NAS Norfolk, Virginia, from July to November 1945, and he then transferred to the Naval Personnel Center at Glenview, Illinois, where he was discharged from active duty on November 23, 1945. He went into the U.S. Navy Reserve on the same date, and was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade, on January 1, 1947. LtJg Barker resigned his commission in the U.S. Navy Reserve and received an honorable discharge on December 7, 1960. Bob Barker was active in the entertainment industry from 1950 to 2015, serving as the host of the television game show Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975; host of the Miss Universe pageant from 1967 to 1987; and hose of the television game show The Price is Right from 1972 to 2007. He Flew West on August 26, 2023, and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California.
