William McAfoose, Sr., was born on August 17, 1919, in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on November 21, 1944, and after completing basic training he was sent to Europe where he saw combat during the closing months of World War II with the 7th Infantry Regiment. PFC McAfoose served occupation duty in Germany after the war and was honorably discharged from the Army on July 31, 1946, at For Meade, Maryland. William McAfoose died on March 23, 1974.
