Daniel Mann was born on July 3, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. He entered Officer Candidate School with the U.S. Navy on September 17, 1964, and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy in January 1965. Ens Mann next completed Underwater Demolition Team Replacement training with Class 035 (West Coast) at NAB Coronado, California, in September 1965, followed by service with SEAL Team ONE at NAB Coronado from September 1965 until he was killed in action while deployed to South Vietnam on April 7, 1967. Daniel Mann was buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
