George Bush was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Yale University, he enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard on May 27, 1968. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, in August 1968, and received a direct commission as a 2d Lt in the Texas Air National Guard on September 4, 1968. Lt Bush next attended Undergraduate Pilot Training and was awarded his pilot wings at Moody AFB, Georgia, on November 29, 1969, and then served as an F-102 Delta Dagger interceptor pilot with the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the Texas Air National Guard at Ellington AFB, Texas, from November 1969 to October 1973. Lt Bush entered the Air Force Reserve on October 2, 1973, and received an honorable discharge on November 21, 1974. After earning his MBA at Harvard Business School, he worked in the oil industry before serving as the 46th Governor of Texas from January 17, 1995, to December 21, 2000. George Bush served as President of the United States from January 20, 2001, to January 20, 2009.
