Bernard Treider was born on September 28, 1933, in Austin, Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 29, 1950, and served in combat in Korea with Company G., 8th Cavalry Regiment, from November 1950 to February 1951, receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army on March 19, 1951. Treider next enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on February 26, 1952, and after completing basic training and maintenance training, he served as a maintenance repairman with VMF-235 at MCAS El Toro, California, from June to October 1952. PFC Treider then attended aviation electronics training at NATTC Jacksonville, Florida, from October 1952 to June 1953, followed by service as an F2H-4 Banshee electronics repairman with VMF-214 at MCAS El Toro from June to November 1953. His next assignment was as an F9F Panther electronics repairman with VMF-235 at MCAS El Toro from November 1953 to May 1954, and then as an aircraft electronics repairman with Marine Aircraft Repair Squadron 27 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, from May 1954 until his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps on December 23, 1955. Bernard Treider died on January 21, 1977.
