Frank White was born on September 27, 1931, in Farrell, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve on November 16, 1949, and the U.S. Air Force on July 27, 1950. After training in the electronics career field, he cross-trained into the personnel career field in 1951, serving at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, until July 1952. His next assignment was with Headquarters Technical Training Air Force located in Gulfport, Mississippi, followed by completion of Manpower and Management Technical School at Scott AFB, Illinois. His final active duty assignment was at Sampson AFB, New York, where he received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in September 1953. Sgt White enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard in August 1956, and served as an Administrative Supply Technician until leaving the Guard in June 1963. During this time, he was activated in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis from September 30 to October 10, 1962. After leaving military service, Frank worked for the Boeing Company in the Apollo Lunar Program from June 1963 to October 1973, and then re-enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard in 1974. Sgt White transferred to the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1979, and served as Group Career Advisor with the 920th Weather Reconnaissance Group at Keesler AFB until November 1980, when he transferred to Headquarters Air Force Reserve at Robbins AFB, Georgia. There he served in Plans and Programs as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee, returning to Keesler AFB in June 1982, where he served as the Reserve Assistance NCO to the Mississippi Wing of Civil Air Patrol until August 1984. Sgt White transferred to Hellenikon AB, Greece, as a Civilian Personnel Specialist with the U.S. Air Force, serving there from August 1984 to August 1986, during which time he organized and chartered a Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron there. After returning to the U.S., MSgt White returned to his liaison position with the MS Wing of Civil Air Patrol until his retirement from the Air Force Reserve on September 27, 1991. Frank White died on July 21, 2020, and was buried at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. His widow, Lillian Ware White (1932-2020) is buried with him.
