Arthur J.M. Oustalet, Jr., was born on September 29, 1922, in Louisiana. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve at New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 16, 1942, and went on active duty in the Navy V-12 Program at Tulane University on July 1, 1943. After attending the V-12 Program and U.S. Naval Reserve Midshipman's School, S1C Oustalet completed Engineering Training, Flight Engineer/Flight Mechanic's Training, Aviation Machinist Mates Training, and Naval Air Gunnery Training at USNTS Sampson, New York; NATTC Memphis, Tennessee; NAGS Jacksonville, Florida; and NTS LaGuardia Field, New York. His first assignment was with Air Transport Squadron TEN (VR-10) at Honolulu, Hawaii, from March to August 1945, followed by service with Air Transport Squadron TWELVE (VR-12) assigned to Headquarters Pacific in Hawaii from August 1945 to February 1946. AMMF3C Oustalet's final assignment was at New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received an honorable discharge from the Navy on March 12, 1946. After leaving the Navy, he went into the automotive industry, where he owned several dealerships in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Jennings, Louisiana. A.J.M. "Bubba" Oustalet, Jr., died on November 26, 2001, and was buried at the Calvary Cemetery in Jennings, Louisiana. He was survived by his wife, Lena Mae Easley Oustalet of Jennings, Louisiana; seven sons, A.J.M. "Butch" Oustalet III, Fred Z. Oustalet, Richard C. Oustalet, Ronald R. Oustalet, James B. Oustalet, Joel P. Oustalet, and Lance R. Oustalet; and three daughters, Connie Oustalet Byrne, Roxanne Oustalet Lagarde, and Michelle Oustalet Lyons.
