George Flesner was born on January 20, 1924, in Anaheim, California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces on November 16, 1942, and was trained as a radio mechanic. CPL Flesner then joined the 22nd Station Complement Squadron in May 1943, and deployed to England as part of the 352nd Fighter Group in August 1943. His primary responsibility was maintaining the communication lines between the control tower and the radio trucks and maintaining the backup radio and batteries in the control tower. After his unit was disbanded in August 1945, CPL Flesner was sent to French Morocco, and then returned to England in October 1945, returning to the U.S. in December 1945. He received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Forces on January 2, 1946 at Fort MacArthur, California. After leaving the military, George married Patricia Smith and then worked for the IBM Field Engineering Division for 35 years. George and Patricia had 3 children together with 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
