The U.S. Army began EOD operations in April 1941, followed by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps in May 1941, and the U.S. Air Force began EOD operations with its founding in September 1947, although it had already performed EOD functions as the U.S. Army Air Forces under the U.S. Army from the beginning of World War II.
